Fun community events and entertainment were more important in 2009 than ever as many residents looked for ways to save money by entertaining their families closer to home. Lenexa, which has long been known as the City of Festivals, continued to provide a wide range of festivals and events, bringing families and neighbors together for fun throughout the year. In addition to the official opening of Black Hoof Park, fishing opened at the park on May 1.
