The City Clerk Division prides itself on the relationship we have with our customers. While maintaining a growing customer base, we are constantly seeking out and identifying opportunities to better serve the Governing Body and general public by making effective first contact with customers, and investigating, pursuing and researching timesaving and efficiency measures.
The City Clerk's office is responsible for issuing the various required licenses in the City of Lenexa. Licenses issued are: Business, Cereal Malt Beverage, Drinking Establishment, Massage Therapy, Retail Liquor, and Trash Hauler Licenses.
Using technology to work smarter the city installed a new phone system with Direct Inward Dial capability, which allows our customers direct connection to individuals within the organization, thereby significantly reducing the number of calls coming through the main switchboard and allowing staff time to better serve our customers. We now have the capability of doing business over the phone and fax machine, which can save our customers time and travel expense. Information about licensing, voter registration, city council meetings, and other general information is now being maintained by the City Clerk's division on the city's home page on the Internet.
The City Clerk's division is responsible for providing the Governing Body with agenda material for all City Council meetings. We have been instrumental in aiding with the Governing Body's goal in "using technology to work smarter." One of the more successful accomplishments has been to send Council meeting agenda material electronically to each City Council member via the network to their laptop computer. Literally reams of paper are spared, hours of time at a copy machine are saved, and hours of travel time eliminated. In support of this effort, we have installed optical hardware and software in all departments so they may scan outside documents, maps, etc. that need to be included in the electronic packet.
