If you already have two dogs and/or two cats and would like to have additional pets you will need to apply for a Special Pet Permit with the City of Lenexa.

PROCEDURE:
Special Pet Permit application and payment of fees shall be made to the City Clerks office at City Hall, 12350 W. 87th St. Pkwy. The first two dogs and/or two cats must have their current
Lenexa Animal License. Upon approval of the Special Pet Permit, the additional animal(s) must also be licensed.

Once the Special Pet Permit application is completed, it is then forwarded to the Lenexa Animal Control Division. An Animal Control Officer will then contact you to make sure you have an area suitable for the additional pet(s). You will be given a packet of forms that will need to be passed out to surrounding residents. It will be necessary to obtain signatures from surrounding residents and return the form to Animal Control within a two week period. If it's determined that there are no complaints from surrounding residents you will be granted approval for additional pet(s).

No additional dog(s) or cat(s) can be added to the approved Special Pet Permit that was not specifically identified in the original application.

Note: Some homeowners associations have their own restrictions on the number of pets allowed in the neighborhood. Please check with your neighborhood homeowners association prior to applying for a Special Pet Permit with the City.

A nonrefundable fee is required at the time of application. There is an annual renewal fee for this permit. These fees are in addition to each tag fee.

CONTACTS:
Primary contact is
Chris Barton at (913) 477-7515 or Sally Johnson at (913) 477-7514 or the Animal Control Division at (913) 477-7385.
