The Lenexa Parks & Recreation Advisory Board meetings are held on the 2nd Wednesday of each month. The meetings take place at 7:00 P.M. at the Lenexa Community Center.

Code Requirements
Chapter 1-5 Boards, Commissions, & Councils Section 1-5-C-1 Membership; Appointment; Term of Office.
There is hereby established a Parks and Recreation Advisory Board for the City. The Board shall consist of nine (9) members appointed by the Mayor by and with the consent of the Council. All members shall be appointed and serve a term of three (3) years from their date of appointment. Vacancies* shall be filled by appointment by the Mayor, by and with the consent of the Council, for the unexpired term.
One newly appointed member (the eighth member) of the Board will serve for a term expiring April 30, 1997. Each reappointment after that date will be for a term of three (3) years.
A second newly appointed member (the ninth member) of the Board will serve for a term expiring April 30, 1998. Each reappointment after that date will be for a term of three (3) years. (Ord. 3960, 10-5-1995)
Section 1-4-A-3 In the event of a vacancy on the City Council or any appointive City office, the Mayor shall submit a recommendation to fill the vacancy to the City Council within thirty (30) days from the created vacancy. Upon receipt of the Mayor's recommendation, the City Council shall act thereon, within thirty (30) days from notice of the Mayor's recommendation. (1984 Code ¤1-113; 1994 Code)
Section 1-5-C-2 Organization
A. Officers: The members shall elect, at the first regular meeting in May, their own chairperson and vice chairperson who shall serve for one year and until their successors are elected. (1984 Code ¤15-203; 1994 Code)
B. Meetings: 1. The Board shall have regular monthly meetings. 2. Special meetings may be called by the chairperson, or in his absence, the vice chairperson, with the written consent of three (3) members of the Board.
C. Minutes and Records: The Board shall keep minutes of its proceedings and shall keep records of its official actions, all of which shall be immediately filed in the City Hall and shall be a public record. (1984 Code ¤15-204; 1994 Code)
Section 1-5-C-3 Duties
A. Generally: The City Council may refer to the Advisory Board matters relating to construction, reconstruction and improvement of the public parks and recreation facilities, including the acquisition of major recreational equipment and facilities and the institution of new programs or revision of programs in the parks and recreation system. The Parks and Recreation Advisory Board shall recommend to the City Council recreation and park programs, together with proposed budget recommendations for the ensuing year, that are deemed necessary to accomplish these programs. The Board shall request from other City advisory boards that have park-related activities to coordinate all park-related activities through the Park and Recreation Board. The City Council may ask for recommendations from the Board for the planning and initiation of future park developments and on whether land or money shall be accepted under the terms of the three percent (3%) park fee code. The City Council may ask for recommendations pertaining to the receipt of park land or fixtures in the form of gifts. The Board may make recommendations on other park and recreation-related matters upon request of the Mayor and Council. (1984 Code ¤15-206; 1994 Code)
B. Annual Report: The Board chairperson shall make an annual written report to the City Council. (1984 Code ¤15-205; 1994 Code)
