RESIDENTIAL WASTE STORAGE

Where should waste be stored?
All waste containers must be stored in the garage or behind the front building line. They may be placed at the curb 24 hours prior to scheduled collection. The containers should be closed to prevent odor, insects and the dispersal of waste.

What should I do with yard waste?
Brush and tree limbs less than 4 inches in diameter must be tied in bundles that are no larger than 48 inches long and 18 inches in diameter. The bundles should be stored behind the front building line and placed at the curb only on collection day. Residential composting is permitted in Lenexa. Read more on city requirements information and tips on how to create your own residential compost area.

What about household hazardous waste items?
The Johnson County Environmental Department schedules dates for residents of Johnson County to dispose of items such as oil-based paints, solvents and pesticides. For the dates and location, please call (913) 715-6900.Johnson County Environmental Department

What about large items and appliances?
Items such as furniture and appliances will require a special pick-up and need to be scheduled with your collector. The City also schedules 4 weekends per year as an opportunity for citizens to bring items to the City's Service Center. For the dumpster weekend schedules and fees, call (913) 477-7880.
