Zoning verification for a specific property confirms the zoning classification assigned to that property.

Procedure:
A request for a property's zoning classification or permitted uses can be handled over the phone. A written zoning verification will require a letter or fax to the Planning and Development Department, Land Use Division, requesting it. More detailed information regarding zoning history, compliance with zoning code and/or building codes requires additional research time. Please ensure that you allot additional processing time for more detailed requests. Standard requests will only include information on the zoning district and permitted uses within that district for a given property.

When requesting a zoning verification, you will need to provide an address or legal description for the property in question. "As-built" construction/site drawings will be required for any confirmations relative to existing conditions.

Expiration of Verification:
While there is no specific expiration date for a zoning verification, the information should be for immediate use. City zoning regulations are continually under review and may change at any time. If there is a delay in using the information, call for re-verification.

Contact:
The primary contact for zoning verifications is Jim Walbert, Community Development Technician, at (913) 477-7733. Secondary contact is Pat Mahoney, Community Development Technician, at (913) 477-7669.
