The 2006 Kansas State Legislature passed the Concealed Carry Bill, which went into effect July 1, 2006. Currently applications for permits are being accepted by county sheriffs departments in which the applicant lives.
In order to qualify for a license a person must be:
• A U.S. citizen, a resident of the county where the application is being made, and a Kansas resident for at least 6 months;
• Be at least 21 years old;
• Free from any physical infirmity that prevents safe handling of a weapon; and
• Desire a legal means to carry a concealed weapon for lawful self-defense.
